Jumbangla Desk: Awami League announced this program for the first time after the fall of the government on August 5. But there was no stage. Despite the party instructions, not a single leader and activist of any level was seen.

 

Awami League ordered party leaders and activists to gather at zero point in Dhaka on Sunday demanding the restoration of democracy on Shaheed Noor Hussain Day. The order was issued from the verified Facebook page used as the party's mouthpiece. But no activists of Awami League were seen to be present at the zero point. Not a single Awami League placard was seen there throughout the day. Their party slogans were not heard anywhere. However, in the morning, a group of local Awami League and Volunteer League took out a procession in front of Bangladesh Bank in Motijheel of the capital. They marched for a few minutes and quickly left the place.

In addition, some workers of Awami League took out a jhtica procession on the empty road near the zero point towards Paltan at noon. Besides, Awami League leaders took out another procession with banners at Gulistan bus stand. However, the leaders and activists who participated in these marches did not dare to go to the zero point or the central office of Awami League.

It can also be seen on the ground in various areas of the capital including Zero Point of Gulistan, the anti-discrimination student movement, Chhatra Dal and Shibir leaders have taken control of Zero Point, Gulistan area since Saturday night to resist the protest march of Awami League. They kept protesting by keeping watch all night.


The anti-discrimination student movement took a firmer position in and around Zero Point from Sunday morning. On the other hand, leaders and activists of various organizations of the party, including BNP, Juba Dal, occupied Bangabandhu Avenue in Gulistan.

Meanwhile, the policemen were on alert to control the situation. Law and order forces have been stationed at the entrances of the capital since Sunday morning. A large number of police were deployed at Gulistan Zero Point and Bangabandhu Avenue. Besides, there was a water cannon at Zero Point and a water cannon and riot car at Bangabandhu Avenue. BGB members were seen patrolling the entire area including the secretariat.
