Earlier on Sunday, Reuters quoted the Washington Post as saying that Donald Trump spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussed the war in Ukraine. Trump advised Putin not to escalate the war with Ukraine. He also mentioned Washington's huge military presence in Europe.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that this is completely untrue. This is a fiction. This is just false information. There was no phone conversation between Putin and Trump.

Peskov also said that this is a clear example of the quality of the information being published. Sometimes even reputed publications are publishing such information.

Asked whether Putin has any plans to communicate with Trump, Peskov said there are no specific plans yet.

"I congratulate him (Trump) on being elected president of the United States," Putin said in a question-and-answer session at an international forum conference in the Black Sea resort of Sochi, Russia, on Thursday.
