The students besieged the secretariat with 5-point demands, including handing over the work of second campus of Jagannath University (JOB) to the army, inclusion of JOB in the pilot project of UGC.

On Monday afternoon, students started a procession towards the Ministry of Education under the banner of Jagannath University. About two thousand students of the university participated in it. When the student delegation wanted to present the memorandum to the ministry, the secretary expressed his inability to meet them. At one point, the protesting students took a stand in front of the secretariat.

The students have 5 point demands

1. Project directors appointed during the autocracy should be brought under the law and handed over to competent army officers within seven days.

2. The Ministry of Education should announce with specific outlines that the Jagannath University II campus work has been handed over to the Army.

3. Immediate action should be taken to acquire the remaining 11 acres of land and cancel all agreements with the old campus during the dictatorial regime.

4. Jagannath University is to be included in the pilot scheme announced by UGC recently.

5. The annual budget of the university should be allocated at least 500 crore rupees.

Nausheen Nawar Jaya, a student of Life Chemistry and Anupran Department, said, 'Various university halls are being constructed. We Jobians are lagging behind. Our students have to do tuition all day long. Our demand is to give the second campus to the army. The hit scheme that UGC has taken up is discriminatory.'

AKM Rakib, organizer of the movement, said, 'We will give a memorandum to the ministry today. I will also give three working days time. If these problems are not resolved in the meantime, I will be forced to give a more stringent program.'
