Lifestyle Desk: Pulses are an excellent source of protein. Many people can't bring out the perfect taste or color while cooking thin dal. Lentils will taste great if you follow some cooking tips.
Wash and soak one-third of a cup of lentils well for at least 30 minutes. Then drain the water and take the dal in the pan. Add 1 liter of water and salt to taste. Turn on the stove. When the water boils, white foam will float on top. Remove them with a spoon. Then add 1 tablespoon chopped onion, 1 tablespoon chopped tomato, green chili flakes and half a teaspoon of turmeric powder. When the dal is cooked, pound it with a knife. You can add some water if necessary if the water reduces too much before the dal is cooked. 1 minute before turning off the oven, add 1 teaspoon of chopped coriander leaves.
For bagar, heat oil and fry dry chilies, 1 tablespoon chopped onion and 1 teaspoon chopped garlic. Pour the mixture into the dal pan. Serve hot.
