The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka granted his remand on Tuesday (November 12).

Earlier, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) announced that he was arrested from Uttara area of ​​the capital on Monday night.

DMP Media and Public Relations Department Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrest and said that several cases have been filed against Dhirendranath Shambhu in connection with the student uprising. He will be arrested and sent to court on Tuesday in these cases.


Sheikh Hasina left the country by resigning from the post of Prime Minister on August 5 in the face of student uprising. After that many of his cabinet members and Awami League leaders went into hiding. Some of them have been arrested. There are reports that many have left the country. In the meantime, the police announced the arrest of Dhirendranath Shambhu last night.

Shambhu was nominated seven times in Barguna-1 seat from 1991 to 2023 and became a member of Parliament five times. He lost to an independent candidate in the 12th National Assembly elections.
