Jumbangla Desk: The online gate pass issue system is being fully implemented in the operational activities of Chittagong port. In order to enter the truck at the port through this method, the e-ticket must be collected online with the gate fee.
Although it was tried to be launched from July 11, 2021, but it was not possible to implement it due to various obstacles, the project is now seeing the light of day in the awareness activities of the port authority. The port authority has announced that 100% 'online gate fee' will be implemented for trucks entering the port by November.
According to Chittagong port sources, the entry ticket can be collected by paying the gate fee through the online software on the mobile phone.
The preliminary decision was taken at the meeting held at the office of the Port Director (Security) on July 1 to launch this system. In this meeting, steps were taken to launch online gate fee through 5 C&F institutions for trucks used for import-export goods transportation . The companies are Trim Trade Limited, Parabar Shipping, Habiganj Agro Limited, G Shipping Lines, Amar International.
Later this method was implemented through 15 more C&F agent institutions. The companies are FF International Limited, M/s Saikat Trading Agency, Silver Syndicate, M/s Alauddin, M/s Kabir Enterprises, M/s Tasmia Enterprises, Moon Enterprises Limited, Silver Liner Agency, Abid Enterprises, Amin Associates, Saeed Enterprises, RB Traders, Sameer Associates, Iramia. Enterprises, Tareq International. Till last October, a total of 20 C&F agents' activities were managed through online gate fee system. The Port Authority has taken steps to implement 100% online gate fee system for trucks entering the port within the current month of November.
Chittagong Port Authority Secretary Md. Omar Farooq said that the method of collecting gatepass online was introduced a long time ago. But it took time for drivers and helpers to get used to this system. It took time for them to get familiar with the online gate fee system. Now C&F agents have also been informed to get gatepass online for their assigned vehicles. So far 20 C&Fs have been launched through agents. He said that there is a plan to issue e-payment gatepass for C&F vehicles in phases by this November.
