Own Correspondent, Gazipur: Due to the absence of chairmen in 16 union parishads of four upazilas of Gazipur, panel chairmen have been given the responsibility to keep the union parishad functioning and continue public services with financial and administrative powers .

Panel chairman in charge of 16 unions of Gazipur

This information was informed in an office order signed by Hasibur Rahman, Assistant Director of the Local Government Branch of the District Commissioner's office on Sunday (November 10).

According to the office order, the respective panel chairman of the Union Parishad has been entrusted with the financial and administrative powers of the 16 Union Parishads of Kapasia, Kaliakair, Kaliganj and Sreepur upazilas.

The incumbent panel chairmen are Kamal Hossain in Kapasia Barishab Union Parishad, Qayyum Molla in Durgapur Union Parishad, Lutfar Rahman in Karihata Union Parishad and Shafiqul Islam in Sanmania Union Parishad. Achanuddin in Madhyapara Union Parishad of Kaliakair Upazila, Zainal Abedin in Phulbari Union Parishad, Shahidul Islam in Chapair Union Parishad and Firuza Begum in Maucha. Monir Khan in Nagri Union Parishad of Kaliganj, Sufia Begum in Jamalpur Union Parishad, Ayub Bagmar in Moktarpur Union Parishad and Panir Mia in Bahadursadi Union Parishad. Motiur Rahman in Mauna Union Parishad of Sreepur, Mobarak Hossain Murad in Telihati Union Parishad, Abdus Samad in Kaurai Union Parishad and Minara Akhter in Gazipur Union Parishad.

Assistant Director Hasibur Rahman said that when the chairman is absent, the administrative officers of the respective union councils have been given responsibility based on the list of the attendance panel chairmen.
