Jumbangla Desk: In Narsingdi's Manohardi Upazila, a local BNP leader has been accused of killing a poor farmer and his wife and breaking their teeth, beating the family members and cutting the paddy of the land.
The incident took place in Barachapa Namapara area of Barachapa union of the upazila after filing a case.
Locals said that Nazmul, the son of Nurul Haque Nuru of the same area, tried to rape the elder daughter of farmer Raheez Uddin 6 years ago. Later the victim filed a case in the Narsingdi court as plaintiff. After the case, the defendant kept threatening to withdraw the case.
The victim woman said, 'They broke my teeth. He wants to come home and pick up the little girl. Now they are stronger. The rice of our cropland is being cut and taken away.' The younger daughter of the victim said, 'Nazmul Hossain tried to rape her elder sister about 6 years ago. A case is going on in the court in this regard. We suffered a lot of torture by filing a case against him. After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, BNP leader Ripon, his brother Shajahan and Nazmul attacked our house again and vandalized and looted our house. Then on Saturday (November 9) morning, Ripon took a team and started cutting the ripe paddy of our land.'
Currently they are living in extreme insecurity. Seeking the cooperation of the local administration and senior officials of the government to take necessary measures in this regard, the victim farmer Raheez Uddin said, 'I stopped the cooperation of the family members and the police of Manohardi police station after receiving the news of paddy harvesting. Later, when the police left, BNP leader Ripon with the help of Kanan, son of Abdul Majeed Lal Mia of the same area, beat us again and took away the paddy of the land.'
The statement of the accused was not found in this regard. However, the rice harvesting workers said that they were brought in exchange of wages. They don't know whose land it is. After the police left, Ripon ordered them to deliver the paddy to the house.
Habibur Rahman, sub-inspector of Manohardi police station, admitted the truth of the incident and said, 'BNP leader Ripon's brother was sued and he forcibly cut the paddy of the poor farmer's land. Even if we stop them, the rice of the land is cut again.'
