Jumbangla Desk : The 48th death anniversary of the oppressed public leader Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani is on Sunday (November 17). He died on this day in 1976 while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (then PG) Hospital in Dhaka. Later he was laid to rest at the pleasure of Tangail. Detailed programs have been taken up on the occasion of the day in Dhaka and Tangail.

Maulana Bhasani was born on December 12, 1880 in Dhangara village of Sirajganj. His nickname was Chega Mia. But he is also known as Lal Maulana. Although born in Sirajganj, Maulana Bhasani spent most of his life in Tangail. He was involved in politics since his youth. He was an advisor to the expatriate government during the Bangladesh War of Independence.

Maulana Bhasani was involved in politics from his youth. He was the president of the then Bengali-Assam Muslim League for a long time. He was one of the main leaders who formed the United Front in the 1954 elections. He was the president of the advisory board of the expatriate government formed during the independence war of Bangladesh.

In his long political life, Maulana Bhasani has struggled to protect the rights and interests of the deprived, neglected and hardworking people. During the national crisis, he built the Durbar movement with the people on his side. Although he was close to power, he was never possessed by the lust of power. In personal life, he was innocent, unassuming and very simple. He always put national interest above personal interest.


Bhasani has struggled throughout his life for the formation of a progressive, democratic, non-communal Bangladesh without exploitation and deprivation . He had ideological unity and political closeness with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Maulana Bhasani made a very important contribution to the development of Bengali ethnicity.

On the occasion of the death anniversary of the legendary public leader, Professor Dr. Bhasani Science and Technology University Vice-Chancellor at 7:30 am on Sunday. Md. Anwarul Azim Akhand will lay wreaths at Bhasani's shrine. Tabarak will be distributed in the shrine premises at 8 am.

After that, the seminar will be held at 11 o'clock in the seminar room of the 12th floor academic building of the university. Prayer mahfil will be held at Bad Johar University Central Mosque. Top level leaders of various political parties will also gladly pay their respects at his shrine.
