Jumbangla Desk: Residents of Rangpur have called upon the chief adviser to appoint an adviser from North Bengal in the interim government within the next three days. Otherwise, the protesting students have warned to separate the entire Rangpur-Rajshahi division from Dhaka through North Bengal blockade program from November 21.

This announcement was made from a press conference organized under the banner of students and public at a community center in Rangpur city on Sunday (November 17) evening.
In the press conference, the agitators said that the 17-member advisory council took oath after the fall of the government in the revolution that took place in the country after the sacrifice of Abu Saeed on July 16. Not a single advisor was appointed there from North Bengal. Later, advisors were appointed in several rounds, but no one from North Bengal including Rangpur was appointed. This has caused extreme anger among the people of the north, who have been discriminated against and deprived of development for ages.
The student leaders also said that on November 11, 12 and 13, protests, human chain and highway blockade were held in different places of Rangpur region to realize their demands. But we have not received any response from the government till now. Social welfare advisor in Rangpur yesterday said there was no discussion on this issue. After learning about this, more discontent has arisen among the people of North Bengal.
If steps are not taken to appoint advisers within three days, severe agitation including 'North Bengal Blockade' program is threatened. The representatives of the student community said that if the adviser is not appointed within three days, a large-scale blockade program will be held at some important places including Rangpur, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Gaibandha and the Dhaka-Rangpur highway.
They said that Rangpur region is deprived of implementation of desired master plans like infrastructural development, agricultural development, decentralization of power and Teesta plan as the reason for demanding appointment of advisers from North Bengal. It is the demand of every people to have an adviser from North Bengal in the government to represent the students of this region. Because the Rangpur region has been deprived of development for 15 years, it is necessary to appoint an advisor here. The fortunes of the farmers of Rangpur region have not improved despite their contribution to development and food production. North Bengal requires advisors to implement the Teesta River related plans. Development of Rangpur and appointment of advisers is also essential for decentralization of power.
Rangpur District Coordinator Yasir Arafat, Alamgir Nayan and other leaders were present in the press conference. They urged the Chief Minister to assuage the anger of the people of Rangpur and North Bengal by appointing advisors.
Earlier on Saturday (November 16) in Rangpur during the check distribution ceremony among the family members of the martyrs, Social Welfare Adviser Sharmin S. Murshid said that there has been no discussion so far regarding the appointment of an adviser to the government from the northern region.
In response to a question whether there has been a discussion between the government to appoint advisers from Rangpur region or North Bengal, he said, "You should not think regionally." If you do, you're shortchanging yourself. We are thinking about the country. Territorial thinking narrows us down. They have to come out.

When asked about the controversy in the appointment of advisors, the social welfare advisor said, criticize us. We want to correct them and move forward. Those who were deemed necessary by our Chief Advisor in the context of the country were included as advisors. No one is small or big.
