When life becomes dreary, when the texture of the heart becomes dry, the mother showers the child's mind with a shower of joy. He who has no mother has nothing. Mother's service is one of the acts of worship. A companion came and asked Nur Nabiji (pbuh), 'O kind Prophet! Who has the most right to treat me well? The Prophet said, Your mother. Sahabi asked, then whose? The Prophet said, Your mother. Sahabi asked again, then whose? Again the Prophet said, Your mother. The fourth time the companion asked, then whose? The Prophet said, Your father's. Then the people close to you.' (Al Adabul Mufarad, Hadith Number 3)
A mother is a wealth that has no substitute in this world and the hereafter. If friends are lost, friends are found, money is lost, money is built, wealth is lost, it is made again; But once the mother is gone, she is nowhere to be found. As long as the mother is alive, the mother's blessing is on her head. Once a person came to Ibn Abbas (R.A.) and said in a very guilty manner, 'O Guava companion of the Prophet of Allah! I killed in anger. I propose marriage to a beautiful woman.
He did not agree to my proposal. After some time another man proposed to her and she accepted his proposal. I am very angry knowing this. I feel very small. The fire of humiliation burns inside me. At one point I killed that woman in anger. Now you say, is the door of repentance open for me?' Ibn Abbas (RA) asked, 'O young man, is your compassionate mother alive?' In response, the young man said, 'I am not alive, poor mother.' Ibn Abbas said after being silent for a while, 'If you give Khalees, repent to Allah and try to gain Allah's pleasure by increasing the amount of good deeds.'
When the young man left, the narrator Ata Ibn Yasar (R.A.) asked Ibn Abbas (R.A.), 'Why did you ask about his mother?' In response, Ibn Abbas said, 'I do not know of any deed better than serving one's mother to gain the pleasure of Allah. Had his mother been alive, if he had served his mother, Allah would have easily accepted his repentance.' (Al Adabul Mufarad, Hadith Number 4)
There is another wonderful hadith about the reward of mother's service. The hadith was narrated by Ammajan Ayesha Siddique (RA). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'When I go to Miraj, I hear the recitation of the Qur'an in a clear voice. I asked, from whose voice is such a sweet recitation flowing?' It was said, 'This is the voice of Harissa Ibn Numan. He was the ultimate mother devotee boy.' After saying all this, the Prophet said to the Companions, 'Become devotees of Mother like Harisa. Become a mother devotee like Harissa. Of course Harisa cares more for mother than anyone else.'

Maulana Abdullah bin Saeed Jalalabadi, after quoting this hadith, wrote in the commentary of Adabul Mufarad, 'Mother's service is a form of worship, which removes the sins of the servant and ensures paradise.' (Translated by Adabul Mufrad's Tika from Islamic Foundation, 28-page)
