BNP Standing Committee member Major (retd.) Md. has been exempted from the case of Digital Security Act. Two accused including Hafizuddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram). Barisal cyber tribunal judge on Monday. Golam Kabir released him, said the bench assistant Md. Nazmul Hasan.
Bench Assistant Md. Nazmul Hasan said, due to not providing necessary documents including forensic report, two accused were acquitted on the day of framing the charge of the case as a valiant freedom fighter.
On December 28, 2018, Faridul Haque, Chairman of Badarpur UP of Lalmohan Upazila and President of Badarpur (South) Union Awami League, filed the Digital Security Act case against 7 people including Major (retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed at Lalmohan police station in Bhola.
Referring to the case, the bench assistant said that Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram was the candidate of BNP-led Oikya Front for the Bhola-3 seat in the 11th National Assembly elections. On December 24, 2018, a record of the words spoken on the mobile phone while staying at the residence of Ward No. 5 of Lalmohan Municipality was leaked. In this case, the case was filed against 7 named people and 5 anonymous people on the charge of deliberately showing fear in the web site and digital format in order to thwart the National Parliament election.
Inspector (Investigation) of Lalmohan Police Station Bashir Alam filed the charge sheet on August 31, 2019 accusing the two persons.
