Bogra's biggest wholesale markets, Fateh Ali Bazar and Rajabazar, were seen selling new potatoes of early varieties. New potatoes have not been seen in any other market. Apart from winter vegetables, the price of potato is said to be high due to Navanna. But even if the price is high, many are buying less.

Shamim, the seller of Fateh Ali Bazaar, said that the picking of new potatoes has not yet started in Bogra. Some farmers had planted small quantities of potatoes in advance, which they are selling in the market. Apart from this, some new potatoes are coming from Thakurgaon and Dinajpur. The price of new potatoes is falling due to high demand.

Asim, a buyer who came to buy potatoes in Rajabazar, said, 'Everything feels new around Navanna festival. Rice is new, vegetables are all new. Navanna is celebrated with new everything. Vendors are selling new potatoes at Tk 280-300 per kg. Since there are not enough new potatoes in the market, we are forced to buy them at this price.'

Faridul Islam, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer of the Department of Agriculture, said that new potatoes will be available in the market from the end of December in January. This year, the target of producing 40,500 tons of potatoes from 2,250 hectares of land in Bogra district, which is famous for grain storage, has been set.
