According to the notification, this ordinance has been formulated to determine the maximum age limit for direct recruitment in self-governing organizations including government, autonomous, semi-autonomous, statutory government authorities, public non-financial corporations.

Whereas it is expedient and necessary to fix maximum age limit for direct recruitment to Government, Autonomous, Semi-autonomous, Statutory Government Authorities, Self-Governing Bodies including Public Non-Financial Corporations, as the Parliament is in a state of dissolution and it has appeared to the satisfaction of the President that the urgent measures Circumstances necessary for adoption exist; Therefore, President Md. Sahabuddin has formulated and issued the following ordinance under the powers given in Article 93(1) of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh .

What the Ordinance Says
This Ordinance shall be known as the Maximum Age Limit for Direct Recruitment to Self-Governing Bodies including Government, Autonomous, Semi-Autonomous, Statutory Government Authorities, Public Non-Financial Corporations Ordinance, 2024. It will be effective immediately.


Precedence of Ordinance
The provisions of this Ordinance shall prevail over anything contained in any other law, rule, regulation, order, directive or legal instrument for the time being in force.

The maximum age limit for entering all government jobs outside the scope of Bangladesh Civil Service will be 32 (thirty two) years.

In the case of direct recruitment to the posts of autonomous, semi-autonomous, statutory government authorities, public non-financial corporations including self-governing organizations where the upper age limit is '30 (thirty)' or 'below 32 (thirty two) years', the age limit is 32 (thirty-two) years' shall be substituted.

The existing respective recruitment rules or, as the case may be, regulations shall remain in force in respect of recruitment to the posts of Defense Services and Law Enforcement Forces.

Removal of Difficulties
If any ambiguity or difficulty arises in the implementation of this Ordinance, the Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, remove such ambiguity or difficulty subject to compliance with the provisions of this Ordinance.
