Two smugglers arrested with 6 crore gold bars

This gold was recovered from Raipur village on the Indian border of the upazila around 5 pm on Monday (November 18).

The arrested are - the son of deceased Rajab Ali Mandal of Chaichgaria village of Maheshpur. Abdul Quader Mandal and the son of deceased Yar Ali of Raipur village. Dulal


Confirming the truth of the incident, Colonel Azizus Shahid, the captain of 58 BGB, told Kal Kantha, 'Based on confidential information, I have come to know that the gold smugglers are staying in a paddy field of Raipur village. At that time BGB members of Samanta BOP arrested them. Then they searched their body and recovered 46 gold bars. Its weight is 5 kg 479 grams and the market price is about 6 crore taka.

He also said, 'After filing a case against the arrested persons in Maheshpur police station, they have been handed over.'
