Professor Abdullah Abu Saeed, founder of Biswa Sahitya Kendra, said these words to the readers at the five-year anniversary celebration of Alor Ishkul program of Biswa Sahitya Kendra on Friday (November 22).

A special commemorative book was released on the occasion of celebrating five years of Alor Ishkul activities.

Abdullah Abu Saeed, the craftsman of making enlightened people, was present as the chief guest in this festival held at Vishwa Sahitya Center Auditorium. Shamim Al Mamun, director of World Literature Center, gave a welcome speech on the occasion.


The five-year anniversary celebration became colorful with many events including remembrance of the Pathchakra members, poetry readings, songs, dances, puppet readings, dramas. To commemorate this celebration, a special book named Smriti and Srijan was published, edited by Rukhsana Milli, published by Muhib Nesar.

The convener of this festival was Md. Shakib Chowdhury. Adrika Eshna Purbasha was in charge of coordinating the cultural program.

On November 22, 2019, this specialized reading cycle of the World Literature Center started with the reading of Franz Kafka's world-famous novel Metamorphosis. Over five years, more than 150 books of Bengali literature and world literature are read and discussed in groups.

Rabindranath Tagore, Leo Tolstoy, Jean Paul Sartre, Jack London, Maxim Gorky, Henrik Ibsen, Jean Giraud, Nicolai Gogol, Clive Bell, Anton Shekhov, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, George Bernard Shaw, Eugene O Neill, Voltaire, Lord Maclay, Jonathan Swift, Yuval Noah Harari, Albayer The reading list of this cycle included the best works of world famous writers and thinkers like Camus and Miguel de Cervantes.

From Eternal and Contemporary Bengali Literature by Debendranath Tagore, Saratchandra Chattopadhyay, Pramath Chowdhury, Jasimuddin, Begum Rokeya, Niranjan Majumder, Annadashankar Roy, Maitreyi Devi, Jahanara Imam, Sardar Fazlul Karim, Ahmad Chhafa, Shankar, Prabodhkumar Sanyal, Sagarmay Ghosh Selected books are also read by the members of the reading circle.

Apart from reading books regularly, the members of this group also travel together, watch stage plays, get familiar with plants, flowers, nature, Rabindra-Nazarul Jayanti, and participate in various protests. This united journey of Pathchakra members with the conviction to make themselves a better person from wherever they are in the society.
