Former minister Abdur Razzak is in jail after remand
On Sunday (November 24) afternoon, Tangail Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Mahmudul Mohsin ordered to send him to jail.
Abdur Razzak's lawyer AKM Shamimul Akhter said that they did not apply for Abdur Razzak's bail. The bail application will be made on the next scheduled date.
According to court sources, the five-day remand of Abdur Razzak in the case filed at Madhupur police station on the charge of attack on student procession on August 4 ended today. Tangail Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate was produced at 4 pm today. Judge Mahmudul Mohsin ordered to send him to jail. He was taken from the court to the Tangail District Jail under tight security.
Before this, Abdur Razzak was produced in Tangail court on November 11. There, he was arrested in connection with the murder case of school student Maruf who was shot dead on August 5 in Tangail city, the case of murder of college student Emon who was shot dead on August 3 in Mirzapur and the attack on anti-discrimination student activists in Madhupur upazila Sadar on August 4. Police applied for seven days remand for interrogation in those three cases. He was granted a total of 15 days remand from the concerned courts for five days.
Court inspector Mizanur Rahman said, first Abdur Razzak was remanded in Tangail Sadar police station in the case of killing school student Maruf. They were interrogated there for five days. Later on November 15, he was taken to Mirzapur Police Station for questioning in the Emon murder case. The former minister was last taken to Madhupur police station on November 20. He was interrogated in a case filed on August 4 on charges of attacking a student procession there.
