This Sunday morning, the turtle got stuck in the Saiful's net in the Agunmukha river. Later, the turtle was released in the Agunmukha river around 4 pm. Its weight was about 50 kg.

Md. Saiful Islam, the son of Abdul Howlader of ward number 7 of Galachipa Sadar Union, told reporters, "I cast a net of hilsa in the Agunmukha river at around 3:30 pm on Saturday night during the tide for hilsa fishing. The turtle was caught in the morning when three people were lifting the net. While removing the turtle from the net, the net of half a lakh rupees was torn. When the tortoise was brought to the Londa sluice gate, hundreds of people thronged to catch a glimpse. At that time, Md. Sohel Hossain Russell, the team leader of Galachipa upazila of Animal Lovers of Patuakhali and animal welfare environmental organization, came there after receiving the news.


Md. Jamal Hossain, Beat Officer of Galachipa Pakhiya Forest Department said, I have never seen such a big sea turtle in my 24 years of service. Jalpiranga tortoise is also known as Panna tortoise in Bangladesh, he said.

Md. Jahangir Hossain, Ranch Officer of Galachipa Forest Division, said that the turtle was released in the middle of the river by a trawler in the Agunmukha river near Panpatti.
