International Desk: Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte said she hired an assassin to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his wife and the Speaker of Parliament. And warned that none of them will survive if he is killed.
Yesterday Saturday (November 23) news media CNN and CBS reported this sensational information.
It is the latest instance of ongoing tension between the Philippines' two most powerful political families.
President Marcos Jr. is the son of former Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos. Ferdinand, who held power for 20 years, was overthrown in a popular coup in 1986. Meanwhile, Sara Duterte is the daughter of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. Rodrigo ruled the country before Marcos Jr. came to power.
Rodrigo is considered the country's most radical president in recent times. He is being investigated by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.
Ahead of the 2022 elections in the Philippines, Marcos and Duterte formed a coalition, dubbed 'Uniteam'.
Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte occupied the positions of President and Vice President respectively in this alliance. But these two top politicians and their supporters have been at loggerheads since day one.
Sarah resigned from the cabinet last June, breaking up the 'Unitem' coalition. He has repeatedly called President Marcos Jr. and his cousin Speaker Martin Romualdez 'incompetent' and 'corrupt'.
Speaker Romualdez cut the budget of the Office of the Vice President by nearly two-thirds. Sara's Chief of Staff Julekha Lopez was recently arrested. It is believed that Sara gave such a rude statement in response to this.
In a statement given at the press conference on Saturday, Sarah said, I have fixed a man. Said, BBM will kill (Marcos), (First Lady) Liza Araneta and (Speaker) Martin Romualdez if I die. Don't think it's a joke again.'
In this speech containing abuse, he further said, 'I have said, we will not stop until we kill all of them.'
Then a statement from the office of the president informed that the security of the president has been increased immediately after this speech.
"Any threat to the life of the President should be taken seriously," the statement said. Especially when such a threat is made openly, in unequivocal terms.'
