Eyewitnesses said that around 2.30 pm on Sunday, the incident took place during a clash between the students of Suhrawardy and Kabi Nazrul Colleges who came to surround the National Medical College. Before this, at two o'clock in the afternoon, the clash and chase started between the two sides. Later, when Kabi Nazrul and the students of Suhrawardy College retreated, the students of the other side entered Suhrawardy College.

At that time the honors first year history examination was going on in the college. Students of Kabi Nazrul College were giving exams in this college. The exam, which started at 12:30 PM, was suspended after two hours for security reasons.

Mufti, a student of Kabi Nazrul College, said that after the exam was going on for an hour and a half, we heard the sound of vandalism. At half past two, the teachers announced the suspension of the exam.

During this time, vandalism was carried out in most of the rooms, including the room of the vice-principal of the college. Later, the students left the college premises on the request of teachers and staff. After that the examinees in the college came out slowly.
