Earlier in the morning, the students of Govt Suhrawardy College started gathering in the campus from different areas. Besides, the students of Govt. Shaheed Suhrawardy College gave a 24-hour ultimatum to the administration to identify and arrest those involved in the vandalism of the college campus.
On Monday (November 18), students clashed on Sunday over the death of a friend due to doctor's negligence at the National Medical Institute Hospital. The medical siege program later turned into clashes. During this time, apart from the hospital, Suhrawardy and Kabi Nazrul colleges were also vandalized. It was alleged that the police were present during the incident but their role was passive.
Students from different colleges started coming in groups to Dhaka National Medical Institute Hospital on Sunday afternoon. Their complaint, Dr. Mahabubur Rahman Mollah College student Abhijit was neglected by the hospital authorities. Abhijeet died on Monday. Agitated students surrounded and vandalized the hospital to demand justice for the incident.
At one point, the students left the main gate of the hospital and proceeded towards Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul Government College. The program of besieging the hospital, demanding justice for the death, turned into an attack on the college. The National Hospital authorities used the students of Suhrawardy College and Kabi Nazrul College against them despite taking a two-stage stand earlier.

Examinations were going on in both the colleges at the time of the attack. When the vandalism started, the students started running around. After about 3 and a half hours, when the students left the road, students of Kabi Nazrul and Suhrawardy College started gathering. Apart from the attack and vandalism, they also complained of looting money. The whole area became agitated. It has been alleged that even though the police were present at the scene from the beginning, no action was taken to prevent the clash. However, although the police are there, they are not aware of the attack and vandalism, said the police officer of Lalbagh zone.
In addition to the two colleges, the incident of vandalism also took place inside the Dhaka National Medical Institute Hospital. Several people were injured.
