According to preliminary investigation, the vehicle was going from Bareilly to Dataganj in Badayun district . While traveling along the Khalpur-Dataganj road, the car hit the broken part of the bridge and fell into the Ramganga river.

Local circle officer Ashutosh Shivam said there was no warning signboard at the accident site. As a result, the driver did not realize that the bridge was not safe. The car fell into the river from a height of 50 feet. Three people died including the driver.


According to the police, on Sunday morning, the locals saw the accident car. Three people inside the car have been confirmed dead.

The dead bodies have been recovered and sent for autopsy. The identity of two persons named Amit and Vivek among the deceased has been confirmed. The identity of the third person is not yet known.

The families of the victims blamed the officials concerned for the accident. They questioned why the bridge was left incomplete and why there was no barricade.

The family has demanded that an FIR be filed against the construction department accusing them of negligence.
