Jumbangla Desk: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has said that action will be taken against motorcycle passengers who honk loudly near residential areas and educational institutions and who do not wear helmets. Besides, instructions have been given not to carry more than two people including the driver on the motorcycle. DMP said these things in a press release on Sunday (November 24).

According to the press release, motorists plying in Dhaka city often use the horn at an unnecessary high level. Due to this, pedestrians, commuters, drivers of other vehicles, city dwellers and especially the sick public are facing serious health risks. To prevent this problem, motorists are requested to follow the provisions of Section 45 of Road Transport Act-2018 not to use unnecessary and loud horn.


It is also said that in addition to this, it is often observed in Dhaka city that motorcycle drivers without using helmets drive dangerously with multiple passengers, especially women and children, and fall into road accidents. To avoid the risk of road accidents and loss of life, motorcyclists are requested to follow the provisions of section 1 (f) of Section 49 (1) of the Road Transport Act-2018 not to carry more than two persons including the driver and to ensure that passengers wear helmets.
