Jumbangla Desk: The state party has appealed against the order to stop the movement of battery-powered rickshaws in the Dhaka metropolitan area within three days.
Sources of the Attorney General's Office informed that this application was submitted to the relevant branch of the Appellate Division on Monday (November 25). A hearing on this application may be heard in the court of the Chamber Judge.
Deputy Attorney General Noor Muhammad Azmi confirmed the application to Dhaka Post.
Earlier, the High Court ordered to stop the movement of battery operated rickshaws in the Dhaka metropolitan area within three days. At the same time , the court has issued a ruling to find out why the inaction of the authorities to stop the movement of battery-powered rickshaws in Dhaka metropolitan area will not be illegal.
On November 19, Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Md. Mahmudur Razir High Court bench gave the order.
Home secretary, local government secretary, IGP, police commissioner of Dhaka, authorities of two city corporations of Dhaka have been asked to implement this order of the court.
Barrister Sanjid Siddiqui and Barrister Tahsina Tasnim Siddiqui appeared for the writ in the court.
Before this, Zahurul Islam Masum, president of Greater Dhaka City Corporation Pedal Rickshaw Owners Association and Secretary Md. Momin Ali filed a writ in the High Court. In the writ, the movement of battery-operated rickshaws in Dhaka metropolitan area is sought.
23 people died when the passenger bus fell into the ditch
