Australian media has demanded that Indian Premier League (IPL) team Punjab Kings be renamed Australian Kings. No, they are not starting any movement with this demand. This claim has been made in a purely humorous manner.

Australian media outlet Seven Cricket wrote in a post on social media X, 'Requesting Ricky Ponting's IPL team Punjab Kings to be renamed Australian Kings.'
But why the sudden demand to change the name of Punjab Kings? Australia's World Cup-winning captain Ponting will coach Punjab in the upcoming IPL. The mega auction of IPL was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for the last two days. And there the Punjab coach has selected five Australian cricketers out of 8 foreign slots.
And because of such a crowd of Australians in the Punjab team, that joke of seven cricket. There are five consecutive Australians in Punjab's squad since the auction – Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis, Aaron Hardy and Javier Bartlett.
This is not the first time, Ponting used to give priority to his compatriots while staying in the Delhi dugout. His seven seasons in Delhi saw the likes of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Daniel Sams, Jake Fraser-Maggark, Steven Smith, Alex Carey, Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell playing for the team.
