In a press briefing at the end of the event, Mahathir said that the people of Bangladesh had bravely ousted an unpopular and dictatorial ruler in response to a question from International Islamic University PhD Researcher (IPZ) Executive Director Mohammad Alauddin regarding recent developments in Bangladesh. Now they have an opportunity to rebuild Bangladesh.

He also commented that Bangladesh will move forward if we work unitedly for the sake of the country and not individuals, avoiding new divisions at this time.


In the same event, another speaker, former foreign minister and politician of Malaysia, Tanshri Hamid Albar, said that Bangladesh is an important country in South Asia. The efforts of the hardworking people of the country are progressing in all directions. The recent popular uprising has presented a rare opportunity for reconstruction in front of Bangladesh. For sustainable democracy, he emphasized effective measures to reduce inequality of income and wealth.

Calling for hard work to change the image of Bangladesh in the outside world, he also said that we have full support for Bangladesh's joining ASEAN, a regional alliance in South East Asia.
