4 Bangladeshis detained in India

Citing the police, the Indian news agency PTI reported on Wednesday that on the basis of secret information, members of the anti-trafficking cell of the Navi Mumbai police raided a residence in Huzurgaon on Sunday night. At that time, the 40-year-old couple and their two children, aged 20 and 22, were arrested. However, the police did not reveal their names.

Bhasi police station official said, when the couple was asked to see the valid documents, they could not show them. For this reason they have been arrested.


The police officer also said that preliminary interrogation revealed that all the four arrested are Bangladeshi citizens. They work here as laborers. One of them works as a fish seller.

A police officer of Bhasi police station also said that a case is being filed against them under the Foreign Nationals Act and the Indian Passport Act.

Earlier last week, Indian police arrested 6 Bangladeshi nationals from the Indian state of Karnataka. They are also accused of illegally entering India.

According to the Karnataka Police, the arrested persons are accused of entering West Bengal by making fake Andhar cards, voter cards and other fake documents.
