He gave these instructions in a meeting with a delegation of battery operated rickshaw drivers, owners, garage owners and rickshaw-van-easybike workers union at the DMP headquarters on Wednesday (November 27).


DMP Commissioner said, even if autorickshaws do not run on the main roads, these vehicles will run on the inner roads as before. Apart from this, he urged everyone to be careful so that no new auto-rickshaws enter the streets of the capital.

Ariful Islam Nadeem, Joint General Secretary of Rickshaw Easybike Workers' Union said, "We have agreed to the request of the police that battery operated rickshaws should not be operated on the main roads where buses ply.


He said that the meeting called for no more rickshaws to enter the road. I have also agreed about not entering these vehicles from outside Dhaka.


Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Operations) in the meeting. Israel Howladar, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Khondkar Nazmul Hasan, along with various ranks of DMP officers and representatives of battery operated rickshaw drivers, owners, garage owners and rickshaw-van-easybike workers union of different police stations of Dhaka were present.


Earlier, battery-powered rickshaw pullers protested in different areas of the capital demanding suspension of the High Court's verdict on banning battery-powered rickshaws. Later, the chamber court granted a one-month stay on the order given by the High Court on November 25. In view of this, a delegation of rickshaw pullers and owners was called today (Wednesday) for discussion.
