According to local sources, ISKCON has been operating in the rented house of Sonali Market owned by Vinay Malo of T&T Road area of ​​Shivchar Municipality for a long time. In protest against the killing of a lawyer in Chittagong, local scholars gathered in front of the ISKCON office in Shivchar on Wednesday morning. They gave an ultimatum of half an hour to the ISKCON members to leave the office.

On receiving the information, members of law enforcement along with the police arrived at the spot. The protestors demanded ISKCON members to stop all activities including leaving office. In the meantime, ISKCON members Kanai, Nanda, Nani Gopal went to safety in a private car under police guard.

Islami Andolan Bangladesh Madaripur Shibchar Upazila branch president Hafez Zafar Ahmad said, 'The militant organization ISKCON is trying to destroy Bangladesh. We know this organization as terrorists. ISKCON yesterday killed a lawyer, attacked mosques. Although there are about 92% Muslims in the country, no one can say that we have attacked people of any religion. '


Kanai Das, the responsible member of the Shivchar branch of ISKCON, said on the phone, 'At around 12 o'clock three scholars came to the temple and office room and fixed us a time of 30 minutes. They said, if we don't stop temple activities within half an hour, the situation will worsen. If they continue to gather, we inform the police and the army. When they asked us to move considering the situation, we left the temple and the office with three members locking all the rooms.'

 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madaripur Shibchar Police Station. Moktar Hossain said, 'Alem Samaj people came to an office of ISKCON in Shibchar. There were 3 members of ISKCON. Their home is Shariatpur. ISKCON members left after the presence of Alem Samaj. No untoward incident occurred.'
