Entertainment Desk: A ban has been imposed on my performance on the stage of Shilpakala Academy. This made me sad. I have a big role in the theater movement of this country. I have contributed to the development of drama. This is how the Ekushey medal winning dramatist Mamunur Rashid expressed his regret.

Incidentally, he said that Shilpakala Academy has taken such a decision by calling me anti-revolutionary. As a valiant freedom fighter, I made a statement that the slogan 'Tumi ke ami ke, Razakar Razakar' should not have been raised in the student uprising. This statement was not an anti-revolutionary statement.

Later I myself participated in the mass uprising. I took a stand on the street when the police opened fire on the students. I marched against the killing of students. So where is my crime? However, based on the issue of that statement, I was forced to decide not to perform on the stage of Shilpakala Academy.

If I act on the stage, undesirable situations may arise. But a few days ago, I went on the stage with the play 'Mayur Singhasan' by the theater group Aranyak. The drama was staged smoothly without any kind of trouble. Rather, the audience watched and enjoyed the whole play with attention.

The Director General of Shilpakala Academy Professor Syed Jamil Ahmed has taken this decision after listening to some officials of Shilpakala Academy. He is not able to control those officers and employees. They listen to what they say and take decisions based on their words.

Incidentally, Shilpakala Academy has decided to organize exhibitions of various theater groups of the capital in some districts outside Dhaka. In those shows, Mamunur Mamunur Rashid was selected to perform the play 'Raarang' by the Aranyak theater troupe founded by Mamunur Rashid. However, Mamunur Rashid was offered to refrain from acting in that drama written and directed by Mamunur Rashid. Later this proposal was rejected by Aranyaka.

Director General of Shilpakala Academy Syed Jamil Ahmed said that Mamunur Rashid has not been banned from performing on Shilpakala stage. We have decided to stop him from performing on the art stage for a while. Our position is not against any theater group. Against those who stand against the revolution. It has been decided by the theater department of Shilpakala Academy that people who take a stand against the revolution will not be allowed to perform on the stage of Shilpakala for the time being.

Mamunur Rashid was convicted because of a statement he made during the revolution. When Aranyak rejected the Academy's offer to exhibit Mamunur Rashid outside Dhaka, I called Mamunur Rashid myself. On Tuesday night, I called Mamunur Rashid and told him to refrain from acting on the art stage for a while.

In the current situation you stay behind the stage. When the situation calms down, you will return to the stage. I said this out of respect for Mamunur Rashid. Because, he has many roles in the theater movement of this country.
