Saiful Islam, Manikganj: RAB-4 (CPC-3) has arrested the killer husband Md. Rubel (37) in connection with the murder of his wife Ruksana (36) by strangling his wife Ruksana (36) to Rangdhanu Residential Hotel in Manikganj bus stand area for a night stay at her in-laws' house.
He was arrested from Mazar Road area under Mirpur Model Police Station of the capital with the help of information technology on Monday (November 25). Meanwhile, the knife used in the murder and the mobile phone of the victim were recovered from the accused.
The arrested accused Md. Rubel is the son of Md. Lal Mia of Matta area of Manikganj Sadar Upazila.
During interrogation by RAB, the arrested accused Md Rubel admitted to killing his wife Ruksana.
RAB Lt. Commander Md. Arif Hossain confirmed this information through a press release on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the press release, about 18 years ago, the deceased Ruksana was married to Md Saheb of Sahagola area of Atrai Upazila of Naogaon district. After that, she often quarreled with her husband about family matters. At some point they got divorced. After that, Ruksana moved to Dhaka in search of livelihood and took a job at Savar Public Health Hospital. Ruksana met Rubel who came to serve there. At one stage of their acquaintance, they developed a love affair and indulged in an immoral affair. Later they got married in 2022 with the consent of both. After the marriage, the husband Rubel became dependent on Ruksana's livelihood without earning a living. They often had conflicts about this. 7 days before the incident, Ruksana urged her husband Rubel to earn a living again. Ruksana also threatened divorce if no action was taken. Being angry with this, as part of the previous plan, they went to room No. 526 of Rangdhanu Residential Hotel to spend the night at around 1.30 am, saying that they would take them to their father-in-law's house last Sunday night. They had an argument again about family matters in the residential hotel. At one point, when Ruksana fell asleep around 3:30 in the night, husband Rubel slaughtered Ruksana with a sharp knife he had with him and confirmed her death, taking the mobile phone used by the victim and the knife used in the murder in his custody and fled from the scene.
Then last Monday at nine o'clock in the morning, the manager of the hotel called in front of the room and left without getting any response. Later, the hotel manager called again around 12:30 noon and knocked on the door of the room. When the door opened, he found Ruksana's dead body and informed the local police and RAB. Later, the police reached the spot and recovered the body and sent it to Manikganj Medical College morgue for post-mortem.
RAB Lt. Commander Md. Arif Hossain said, based on CCTV footage, surrounding signs and information at the scene, the mystery of the murder has been revealed and the accused Md. Rubel has been arrested from Mazar Road area of the capital. The knife used in the murder and the mobile phone of the victim were recovered from him.
After the arrest, the accused Md. Rubel accepted the responsibility of the incident. This RAB officer also said that a murder case is under process at Sadar Police Station and the arrested accused is being transferred to Manikganj Sadar Police Station.
