Spain's young star Lamine Yamal made history by winning the 'Golden Boy' award given by the Italian sports media Tattosport. The Spanish star footballer set a unique example by winning this award at the age of 17 years and four months.

Yamal set a record as the youngest player to win the 'Golden Boy' award. This award is given to footballers under the age of 21.
Yamal's rivals were Alejandro Garnacho, Pau Kuberci, Kobi Mainu, Sabinio, Endrik and Arda Gulerra. Yamal got 488 points out of 500 points given by the jury.
TattoSports said representatives from 50 European media outlets voted. The 'Golden Boy' award is voted for by representatives of Europe's leading media outlets.
Yamal became the fourth player from Barcelona and Spain to win the 'Golden Boy'. Lionel Messi became the first Barcelona player to win the Golden Boy (2005). And Spain's first player is Cesc Fabregas (2006).
