International Desk: Hackers have stolen 6,200 Ugandan shillings (about 16.8 million US dollars) by breaking into the information technology system of the Central Bank of Uganda. This information was reported by the news agency Reuters about the country's state newspaper New Vision.

According to the report, this cyber attack was carried out by a hacker group known as 'West' . The group is based in Southeast Asia. They transferred part of the stolen money to Japan.
New Vision also reported that the bank was able to recover more than half of the stolen money. However, neither the bank nor the Ugandan police have yet made any official comment on the matter.
On the other hand, the country's independent newspaper Daily Monitor claimed that bank employees may have colluded with hackers in the theft.
