Jumbangla Desk: It has been reported that two residential houses were robbed by cutting the window grilles of the building in Baufal of Patuakhali. On Thursday (November 28) after 2 am, the robbery took place at Tashlima Manzil and Majhpara Khan houses adjacent to Sardar's house in Madanpura Union of the upazila.
The victim's two families said that a group of 6 to 7 robbers entered the house in the early morning by cutting the window grill. The robbers barricaded the victim's family members with various indigenous weapons and took cash and gold ornaments. At this time, they also took the fish and meat in the refrigerator. This group of robbers did not even leave the school bags of the family's children.
Fazilatunnecha, a member of the victim's family of Tashlima Manzil, said, first they took the key of the cupboard at gunpoint. About 1 lakh cash in cash, about 15 bags of gold and refrigerated fish and meat were taken away by the members of the dacoit gang. He also said that they came wearing black cloth masks.
Abdur Rahim, a member of the victim's family of the Khan house, said that the robbers took 53,000 taka cash, approximately 3 loads of gold ornaments and fish and meat from the refrigerator at gunpoint.
Locals said that after hearing the screams of the victim's families, they went to the spot and saw that the robbers had fled. With the hostages at gunpoint, the family members kept quiet until the robbers left. Locals believe that the robbery of two houses within an hour was done by the same band of robbers.
Baufal Police Station OC. Kamal Hossain said that the police visited the incident site. The families of the two victims have been asked to file a complaint. Police are working to identify the robbers and recover the looted goods.
Note that from July 2023 to July this year, more than 20 robberies have occurred in Baufal Upazila. Later, the situation was calm for a while when an inter-district dacoit gang was arrested in an operation by the district police . Another similar incident of robbery has raised concern among the upazila residents.
