In an interview with the Indian media Free Press Journal, Somi said, recalling a memory from a long time ago, 'Once I went to watch a trial of a movie at Sanjay Dutt's home theater. After watching the movie, I told the director that it is the worst movie I have ever seen. After hearing this, the director's face looked like he had seen a dead body.
Taking the director aside for putting him in such an embarrassing situation, actor Sunil Shetty gave him some advice. "Sunil (Shetty) took me aside and said, 'You can't do that here,'" Somi said of the suggestion. This is not Miami and you shouldn't say whatever comes to your mind here.'
Rather than being honest or frank, Sunil Shetty wanted to make Somi Ali understand the diplomatic skills required to survive in Bollywood.
Somi Ali, who was once irregular in acting, has given hit films one after another with the top actors of Bollywood. Among them 'Krishna Avatar' with Mithun Chakraborty, 'Ant' opposite Sunil Shetty, 'Yaar Gaddar' with Saif Ali Khan, 'Andolan' with Govinda are noteworthy.
