But on Thursday (November 28) at a press conference in Kazakhstan's capital Astana, Putin apologized and said, 'I didn't know she (Merkel) was afraid of dogs.' I want to say to him again through you, Angela (Markle), please forgive me. I didn't mean to hurt you. On the contrary, I wanted to create a beautiful environment for our dialogue.'

If Merkel ever comes to the Kremlin again, the Russian president vowed not to repeat such an incident, adding, "Although it is unlikely, if you (Merkel) come (to the Kremlin) again, I will not do anything like that again."

Incidentally, Angela Merkel served as Chancellor of Germany from 2005 to 2021. She is the first female chancellor in the history of Germany.
