Quader Mirza's brother-in-law Siraj Chairman arrested

The police have arrested AKM Siraj Ullah (58), chairman of Narottampur Union of Kabirhat, brother-in-law of former mayor Abdul Quader Mirza of Noakhali's Basurhat Municipality.

He was produced in the District Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court on Thursday (November 28) afternoon. Earlier in the morning Siraj was arrested from Chittagong based on secret information.

Chairman AKM Siraj Uliah is the son of deceased Tajul Islam of Jadavpur village of Narottampur union. He was the former president of that union Awami League.

According to the police and local residents, a CR case against Siraj Uliah has a one-year imprisonment with a fine of Tk 33 lakh and arrest warrants in three other cases. As the cousin of former minister Obaidul Quader and brother-in-law of Quader Mirza, he has been acting as the chairman of the area by pointing the thumb at the law.


Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kabirhat Police Station. Shaheen Mia confirmed the arrest and said that based on secret information, the accused Siraj Uliah was sent to the court with four warrants after his arrest from Chittagong.
