Science and Technology Desk: Chinese technology company Xiaomi is working on making their own chipset. The move will help the company reduce its dependence on Qualcomm and MediaTek. Besides, by making chips, Xiaomi wants to have more control over their own hardware and improve device performance.

According to related sources, the production of Xiaomi's new chipset may start next year. The company also plans to unveil the first smartphone powered by the chip in 2025. Technology experts consider this to be an important step for Xiaomi. Because these chips will help their technology systems to be more integrated.

This isn't the first rumor of Xiaomi making its own chipset. The company earlier launched its first mobile chipset 'Xiaomi Surge S1' in 2017. This chipset was used in the Xiaomi Mi 5C phone, which was launched in the same year. It was a simple chipset, designed for the budget-friendly smartphone market. Also, this chipset is designed to compete with Snapdragon 430 and 625. However, the Surge S1 was not a success, so the Surge series was discontinued shortly after its launch. Xiaomi's chipset division has been rumored to be making a comeback in the past few years. Especially after the US ban on the Chinese company Huawei.
