Ranju Khandkar, from Gaibandha: Hazrat Ali (28) used to work in a garment factory in Chittagong. The family lived with the money there. Three years ago, he came home and got married. He did not go to Chittagong after that. After that he bought Easybike with some saved money and some loan. Income is not bad.

Hazrat said, 'After marriage, the in-laws including the wife wanted not to go out for work. The people at home are also of the same opinion. So I bought the auto bike with the cooperation of both parties. Now I am running the family by doing it. The income is not bad.'

Ismail Hossain (55) used to run the family by doing agricultural work. For many days, the body does not cool down after working in the field. He also bought Easybike with loan and savings. His family is also running by driving this car.

Ismail said, 'There is no strength in the body like before. It is difficult to fit. So I bought the auto wisely. By doing that, I am passing the day well now.'

Hazrat and Ismail's house is Dumurgacha of Gobindganj in Gaibandha and Ghorabandha of Palashbari. In this district the battery powered Easybike is known as Auto. Not only Hazrat and Ismail, thousands of people like them in this area run their families by auto. If the wheels of the auto do not turn, it will be difficult to run their family.

Ismail and Hazrat said that thousands of autos ply in Gaibandha district. This number is increasing day by day. Even so till now you can earn from 500 to 1000 taka per day by driving an auto.

Talking to passengers and auto drivers, it is known that earlier there were one or two autos in each village. Not a single one was to be found in any village. Now there are several autos in each neighborhood. By driving these autos, the families of the drivers are running smoothly, as well as the travel of the passengers has been facilitated.

Azizur Rahman of Ghorabandha village of Palashbari taluk said that earlier there were no vehicles available to take people to the hospital if they were ill at night. What a pain it would have been. Now that problem is gone. No matter the night, autos are available. Three people drive autos in his neighborhood.

The drivers said that due to the good communication system, the car can now be taken easily on any road. Most of the roads in Palashbari are paved. As a result, the number of passengers on the road has increased, so have the number of vehicles. Due to this, many people are getting employment in the area.

Auto driver Mintu Hossain said, if these electric autos are charged full time at night, they can run all day. Then one thousand to fifteen hundred rupees can be earned daily.

However, due to the increase in the price of auto parts including batteries, the income has decreased a little, some drivers said. They said that additional cars have been added to this increased price. Many people buy autos if they can't do anything. But passengers are not increasing so much. As a result, the previous income is being shared among all. Income is decreasing.

Recently, several rows of autos are seen at Godown Bazar intersection of Nakaihat and Palashbari in Gobindganj. Passengers are shouting as they arrive. As soon as a couple of passengers get up, the auto is running towards Palashbari - Gobindganj - Gaibandha Sadar.

Kanti Das, an auto driver going to Sadar, said that the municipality also has to pay tax for driving an auto. License has to be renewed. It also costs a lot of money. However, the family is still running with the income.

Jahangir Kabir, assistant headmaster of Gaibandha Asaduzzaman Girls High School and College, said that a one-time investment in auto becomes a way of income. The situation is like this, someone is thinking about marriage, but there is no profession? Buy an auto. Then the girl does not think about income anymore. The wheels of these families are also turning due to the income of auto wheels.
