International Desk: JN Roy Hospital in Maniktala area of North Kolkata, West Bengal, India has said that they will no longer treat patients from Bangladesh. The decision was taken by the hospital authorities in protest against the desecration of the Indian flag in Bangladesh and the 'torture' of the minority Hindus in the country.
The country's news agency PTI reported the information on Friday (November 30) citing several officials of JN Roy Hospital.
JN Roy Hospital in West Bengal has issued a notification saying it will not treat Bangladeshi patients indefinitely, PTI reported.
JN Roy Hospital official Subhranshu Bhakta said, we have issued a notification that we will not admit any Bangladeshi patient for treatment from today till an indefinite period. We have taken this decision to protest against the desecration of the Indian flag .
Subhranshu Bhakta urged other hospitals in Kolkata to take similar action (stopping treatment of Bangladeshi patients) as part of protest against alleged persecution of minorities in Bangladesh.
He said, seeing that the flag is being insulted, we have decided to stop providing medical services to Bangladeshis. India played an important role in the independence war of Bangladesh. However, we are witnessing anti-India sentiment in Bangladesh. We hope other hospitals will support us and take similar steps.
