Earlier the Bar Standards Board approved him as a practicing barrister. He has been practicing law successfully in all the high courts of UK as a solicitor advocate for a long time. He has already got tenancy in a barrister's chamber called New Walk Chamber.

Incidentally, call-to-the-bar degrees are awarded from four Inns of Courts in the UK. The four Inns are - Lincoln's Inn, Gray's Inn, Inner Temple and Middle Temple. The Honorable Society of Lincoln's Inn is the largest and has the largest membership. The second largest Inn is the Inner Temple.
Mahabubur Rahman held important positions including President of Dhaka University Journalists Association. He is a member of Dhaka University Alumni Association, Dhaka Reporters Unity, Dhaka Journalists Union, UK National Union of Journalists, Amnesty International, London Bangla Press Club. While studying at Dhaka University in 2001, he got involved in the journalism profession. He then worked for Bangladesh daily Amar Desh, Banglabazar Patrika, UK's influential newspaper The Guardian and most recently Reuters. As he has received several awards in his career as a journalist, his life is in danger while writing investigative reports.
In 2013, while covering the United Nations conference, he leaked information about former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's fake South South award, and his life was threatened. After that, he was forced to leave the country.
He joined the legal profession from a professional journalist in 2015. He first worked as an administrator at the UK's Citizens Advice Bureau. He then worked as a paralegal at the JS Solicitors firm in London. He worked as an assistant to the eminent Judge and Barrister Mark Symes at Garden Court Chambers, one of London's most prestigious barrister chambers. Worked as a Consultant Solicitor with another reputed solicitor firm, Diplomat Solicitors.
Mahabubur Rahman, an experienced barrister in International War Crimes, Human Rights, Asylum and Immigration and Money Laundering, completed his Honors and Masters from Dhaka University. He then completed his Graduation Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course from the University of Westminster, UK.
He completed Higher Rights of Audience Degree in Civil Law from BPP University. In addition, in 2018, he completed research on the Code of Procedure and Contemporary Justice in a joint project of Stockholm University in Sweden and the International Criminal Court in The Hague. He completed courses on European Migration and Diversity from the University of Antwerp, Belgium.
As a practicing solicitor in England and Wales, Mahabubur Rahman has been a member of the Law Society and SRA since 2021. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Honorable Society of Lincoln's Inn.
