On Saturday afternoon, Saidul told Jugantar that he was spending his days in great difficulty. Two days before his bad moment, his wife Panna Akhter divorced him and left with their one and a half year old daughter Sumaiya. Even after applying to various departments, he has not received any financial assistance till now.

Saidul, who could not study far in a poor family, used to earn his living by driving battery-operated auto-rickshaws in Dhaka. Demanding government assistance, he said that he joined the movement to overthrow Sheikh Hasina on August 5. During his stay at Jatrabari in Dhaka, around half a hundred splinters pierced his eyes and different parts of his body and got seriously injured. At that time, students and people present in the movement admitted him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with serious injuries. During one week of admission in Dhaka Medical, splinters were removed from his eyes and different parts of his body.

He also said that he was admitted to the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital and underwent treatment for a week. There he was operated on his eyes. His left eye was completely destroyed by the splinter.


Saidul Islam said that he is still carrying splinters in two eyes and in different parts of his body. He is currently living a miserable life with his parents.
