Officer-in-charge of Pirganj police station Tajul Islam said that the police has started working quickly to unravel the mystery of the recovery of the body of schoolgirl Lavanya Akhtar (5).

Based on various information, Rifat, a 7th class student of Vadua High School and Hussain Ali of Koshadangipara were arrested. Rifat admitted the responsibility of killing the schoolgirl Lavanya Akhtar during extensive interrogation and confessed in the Thakurgaon Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday afternoon.

He also said that in the confession given to the court, Rifat said that on the afternoon of November 23, the schoolgirl hit Lavanya's head with a stick and she died on the spot. Later, he left his dead body to be eaten by the nearby ankh. Rifat's home is in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur district. He used to study from Nana's house in Koshamandalpara. Hussain Ali is being interrogated at the police station.


It should be noted that Lavanya Akhtar, daughter of Belal Hossain of Dangipara village of Kosharaniganj Union and a student of Koshamandalpara Government Primary School, was missing since the afternoon of November 23. His body was found by the locals before Thursday evening near the house. Later, her father went to the spot and identified the girl's body by looking at her clothes. That night Belal Hossain, father of schoolgirl Lavanya, filed a murder case anonymously at Pirganj police station.
