Omed Ali (80) did not give up even if he fell under the weight of age. He is skilled in making beautiful handicrafts with bamboo. Desi made beautiful furniture from bamboo. The house of this craftsman is in North Singergari Dangapara village of the upazila. For 35 years since his incarceration, his handcrafted bamboo furniture has resonated with the aesthetic.

It is known on the surface that he concentrated on the bamboo industry in 1989 in order to make a living. His bamboo chairs, tables, cots, sofa sets, swings and wraps are eye-catching. Which is being exported to meet the local demand in various divisional cities including the capital Dhaka. Gentle people visit his factory in Singergari Bazar to buy bamboo furniture to decorate their homes.
At one time there was a great demand and appreciation for bamboo products in every house in the rural town. Currently, bamboo furniture is disappearing in the crowd of various products including plastic. However, there is a possibility for the entrepreneurs and workers of this industry to do something good if they get government support. Anyone can earn 20/25 thousand taka per month by working hard with training and low capital.
In this regard, Omed Ali sighed and said, I was involved in the robbery case by conspiracy. During my stay in Rangpur Jail for 6 years, the prison authorities trained me on bamboo handicrafts. Since 1989, I have been running a family of 7 members with little capital using that training. I entered the prison as a criminal, came out as a working man.
Magura UP Chairman Akhtaruzzaman Mithu said that even in his old age, Omed Ali is making a living by keeping the traditional traditional bamboo handicrafts of rural Bengal. Along with maintaining this tradition of bamboo industry, he is struggling to live comfortably. The matter will be informed to UNO and he will be sponsored with various government assistance.
