Ripon Das (27), another accused involved in the murder case of Chittagong lawyer Saiful Islam Alif, has been arrested from Anwara Upazila of Chittagong.
Kotwali police arrested him at a shop intersection in the Kainpura area of Chatri Union, Anwara Upazila, at 8:30 pm on Thursday.
It is learned that Ripon Das is the son of Mridul Das of Patharghata Horas Chandra Lane Sadhu's house under the city's Kotwali police station. He used to work at a pharmacy in Chawkbazar under the name of Medicine Shop. Although the arrested Ripon was not an accused in the complaint, the police identified him after watching the video footage obtained in the murder of Advocate Saiful Islam.
Nitai Chandra De, UP member of Chatri Koinpura ward, said that he had been seen in the Jelepara area for the past few days. However, it is not known in whose house he was hiding.
Confirming the matter, Chittagong Metropolitan Police DC (Crime) Md. Roych Uddin said that the accused is not an accused in the complaint. However, after watching the video footage obtained in the murder of Advocate Saiful Islam, he was seen wearing a blue shirt and holding a baton in his hand, so the police investigation has identified him as the accused.
