Crowley's rare feat brings back memories of Gayle and Bangladesh

Sixes in the first over are not very common in white-shirt cricket. However, England batsman Jack Crowley achieved this feat against New Zealand at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. However, Crowley is not the first to achieve this feat.

West Indies legendary batsman Chris Gayle became the first batsman to hit a six in the first over of an innings in Test cricket in 2012. He hit a pair of sixes in the first over of Sohag Gazi's innings against Bangladesh.

After a decade, Crowley repeated that feat. In the first over, Crowley took two doubles in the first two deliveries of Kiwi pacer Tim Southee. Later, he hit three balls and then bowled Southee's sixth delivery over long-off to the English opener.

Crawley's side were leading at the end of the first day of the second England-New Zealand Test in Wellington. After achieving that rare feat, Crawley was bowled by Matt Henry for 17. But Harry Brook's brilliant 123 and Ollie Pope's 66 saw England post 280 before being all out in the first innings.

In reply, the hosts New Zealand lost five wickets after scoring 86 runs.
