Two people, including a child, were killed after being run over by a train in Tongi, Gazipur. The incident took place around 9:30 pm on Monday in the Banmala area of Tongi on the Dhaka-Mymensingh rail route.

Police were unable to identify the bodies as of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. One of the deceased is believed to be 30 years old and the other is believed to be 10 years old.
Initially, the police believe they are father and son.
Tongi Railway Police Outpost In-charge Superintendent (SI) Chhotan Sharma said that the Kurigram Express train from Dhaka's Kamalapur Railway Station to Kurigram passed through the Tongi Railway Station area on Monday night. Later, around 10:30 pm, the police recovered the bodies after locals reported the death of two people after they were run over by the train.
He further said that a CID team has collected fingerprints to identify the body but the identity has not been identified. The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Morgue for autopsy. A case of unnatural death will be filed in this incident.
