Malaika wrote, 'It is with deep sadness that our dear father Anil Mehta is no more. Who was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband and our best friend. My family is deeply saddened by this loss and we humbly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time.'

The actress also wrote, 'You understand, stand by, thank you for that, thank you from Joyce, Malaika, Amrita Shakeel, Arhaan, Azaan, Ryan, Casper, Axel, Duffy and Buddy.'

Malaika Arora's father died on Wednesday morning according to news agency PTI. It was revealed that Anil Mehta jumped from the sixth floor of a house in Bandra area. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for post-mortem.

However, the cause of death is not clear. The death is initially believed to be a suicide. However, the police said that the investigation of the incident is going on. Mumbai Police said, 'We are investigating everything. Initially it appears to be suicide. We are investigating further.'
