Jumbangla Desk: Farooq-e-Azam, Adviser on Liberation War, said that a list of how many people have been employed under the freedom fighter quota in government and semi-government institutions is being prepared. At the same time, he said that action will be taken against those who took the freedom fighter certificate without fighting the liberation war.
Adviser Farooq-e-Azam said that the main issue in the previous movement was the quota of children of freedom fighters. So after preparing a list of how many people have been employed in the freedom fighter quota, we will present the whole matter before you.
Adviser on Liberation War said these things while talking to journalists in his office at the Secretariat on Sunday.
The adviser said, 'I will present the matter before you whether those who got jobs under the quota of freedom fighters, whether they are the children of real freedom fighters or not, whether it was fair or not. This is being worked on. There are many cases. There are about 3,700 cases pending, writs have been filed - those cases will be addressed.
He said, there is an institutional issue between the Ministry of Liberation War and the liberation war, that is the National Liberation War Council Jamuka. Jamuka used to decide who would be a freedom fighter or not. The ministry could only implement what they had decided. Its legal aspects are being looked into. Besides, complaints are coming from many places. There have been fake freedom fighters, there are also objections to the definition of freedom fighters. When we reach a stage in these matters, you will be called and informed to the nation.
When asked whether action will be taken if fake freedom fighters can be identified, he said, why not? It is cheating the nation. It is a punishable offence. Those who are real freedom fighters are feeling humiliated about this matter.
