Jumbangla Desk: The CEO of Ekattar Television Mozammel Haque Babu and the editor of Dainik Bhorer paper newspaper Shyamal Dutt were arrested by the local mob on their way to India illegally through Dhobaura Upazila of Mymensingh.

Mahbubur Rahman, a senior reporter of Ekatar Television and Salim, a private car driver, were also arrested with them.

On Sunday (September 15) night, they were arrested from the border area and handed over to Dhobaura police.

Ekatar TV senior reporter Mahbubur Rahman told the media, My home is in Mymensingh Sadar. My Sir Mozammel Hossain Babu told me to come over the border. Then ten motorcycles blocked the way I was coming. We are arrested and punched, the money we have is taken from check to penny. I can't say what it is.

Officer-in-charge of Dhobaura Police Station Chan Mia said that they were detained by the general public from the border area and handed over to Dhobaura Police Station at around 6 am. The four arrested are currently in police custody.

He said, 'They were trying to escape to India illegally through the border. Legal action is being taken against them.'

Shyamal Dutta and Mozammel Babu were also named in the anti-discrimination agitators who demanded the expulsion of 51 journalists from their workplaces and ban from the press arena for 'engaging in national interest and anti-state activities under the guise of journalism' during the previous Awami League government.

On August 5, the day after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government, Shyamal Dutt was detained by the immigration police while going to India with his family through Akhaura in Brahmanbaria. However, he has not been seen in public since then. And Mozammel Babu was in hiding since the fall of the government.
